Abbott Hillel Phillips, 85 of Slingerlands, New York died on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Florida .
Abbott was born on April 26, 1938 in Albany, NY and was the son of the late Harold and Eleanor Wortman Phillips. He was a graduate of Albany High School Class of 1952.
Abbott was the owner of A. Phillips Hardware in the Capital District, a 5th generation family business. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of Albany City Lodge # 540 Knights of Pythias, the Masons and the Menands Workshop. Abbott was also a member of Congregation Ohav Shalom as well as Congregation Beth Abraham Jacob, both in Albany. His most treasured thing in life was spending time with his family. His children and grandchildren were his hobbies and his interests.
Abbott is survived by his wife, Judy Diamond Phillips, his children, Michelle Davidoff (Doug Harff), Jonathan Phillips (Amy Phillips), Tracey Nussbaum (Keith Nussbaum) and Rick Lev (Tammy Lev), Scott Phillips (Debra Phillips) and their children, Taylor , Cody and Dylan Czajkowski. He also leaves his 13 grandchildren, Max and Julia Davidoff, Tyler, Connor, Morgan , Lindsey and Dylan Phillips, Jake Nussbaum, Carlee (Nussbaum) Alexander (Josh Alexander), Brett Nussbaum , Jordan and Brendan Lev. Abbott was predeceased by his brother, Joel Phillips and his wife, Gail Phillips.
Services will be held at Congregation Ohav Shalom, 113 New Krumkill Road in Albany on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 1:30 pm
