Aileen Sternfeld Obituary

Albany - Aileen Wolkoff Sternfeld passed away on May 6, 2024 at the age of 97. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 29, 1926 to Morris and Faye Wolkoff.

She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Edward Sternfeld, her children whom she adored, Lisa Faith Goldberg and Robert Drew Sternfeld, and her sister, June Wolkoff Zarret. She is mourned and joyously remembered by her grand-daughter, Sonia Juel Goldberg, and the many close family members and friends who were so precious to her.

After attending NYU and marrying her love Eddie, she moved with him to Albany NY. She raised her family and had a career as a fashion artist and advertising manager. By 1976, she rose to be Corporate Advertising Director of Interstate Department Stores, one of the first women to hold such a position. After retirement she volunteered at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association, and Senior Services of Albany, receiving multiple awards for her tireless efforts.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday May 8, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Workmen’s Circle Cemetery, 1620 Western Ave. in Guilderland. Following the service of internment, a period of mourning will be observed until 5 PM on May 8, 2024 at the Sternfeld residence, 388 Greenway, Albany NY. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to JDRF or the Alzheimer’s Association.
