Alan Ginsburg Obituary

Alan  Bruce Ginsburg was born in Albany, NY on February 10th, 1961. His parents, Esther and Larry, raised Alan in a loving Jewish home. Alan was very close with his parents and treasured the fond memories he had of them.

Esther and Larry were active members of the Albany Jewish community, and Alan followed in their footsteps as a member of Temple Israel and more recently of Beth Abraham Jacob. Alan was incredibly bright and had a thirst for knowledge. He was a graduate of Bet Shraga Hebrew Academy, Union College, UAlbany, and Albany Law School. He had a 30+ year career as a lawyer and also spent many years as an educator. He had a passion for sharing his love of learning, and enjoyed teaching courses in both Judaic Studies and in Legal Studies.

Alan married the love of his life, Cheryl, in 1990. They recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Alan and Cheryl shared a life filled with a special love and a deep commitment to one-another.

Alan and Cheryl raised five children together: Elana (Jeremy), Larry, Harlan (Isabella), Reuben, and Davi. Alan’s children were the greatest joys of his life. He was exceedingly proud of their accomplishments and the people they grew up to be. He was thrilled to add a son- and daughter-in-law to the family, both of whom he loved dearly. Alan cherished any time spent with his family.

Alan enjoyed reading, watching musicals, New York sports teams, summers spent at Camp Givah, and insightful conversations.

Alan is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Cheryl; his children, Elana (Jeremy), Larry, Harlan (Isabella), Reuben, and Davi; his cousins who were very special to him; his dear nieces and nephews; and great friends.
