Alex Merims

Alex David Merims, 52, of Niskayuna, NY, passed away suddenly on March 24, 2022.  Alex was born in Manhasset, Long Island to Anita and Arthur Merims. 

He was a graduate of Niskayuna High School, and received a BA in Political Science from Wheaton College, in Norton, MA.

Alex was employed by Interstate Bank and Wells Fargo in Portland, OR and Macy’s in Colonie, NY.  He was a lifelong Yankees fan and enjoyed traveling to Yankee Stadium to see his favorite team play.

In Portland, he was an active volunteer with the Creative Music Guild and at Wells Fargo-sponsored concerts at the Oregon Zoo.

Alex was predeceased by his father Arthur.  He is survived by his mother Anita of Niskayuna, his brother Harrison, sister-in-law Jennifer Gould and his nephew Neil Merims, all of Portland, OR.

Funeral services will be at Congregation Agudat Achim 2117 Union St, Niskayuna, NY on Sunday March 27 at 1:00pm, and also by Zoom. 

Burial will follow at the Agudat Achim Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY.  Shivah Services will be on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday by Zoom.  Zoom links available through the synagogue.
