Alice Blumberg Rubin of Ballston Lake, NY died on February 18, 2022, at age 69,
following a 15-year battle with appendicular cancer.
Alice grew up in Yorktown Heights, NY and graduated from Cornell University in
1974. Following a career as a computer programmer and electron microscopist,
Alice owned and operated Teigit North, an insurance agency that provided health
insurance for individuals who work in the arts.
She was an adventurous woman whose interests included kayaking, birding,
origami, photography and curling, where she was a long-time member of the
Schenectady Curling Club. Together with David, her husband of 42 years, and
children, Gregory and Amalia, Alice rambled through France, snorkeled in the
Caribbean, explored small villages in Japan and cross-country skied local trails. She
loved her home on Ballston Lake and delighted in each of the many birds and
animals that visited (especially the pileated woodpeckers).
In addition to David, Gregory and Amalia, Alice is survived by her daughter-in-law,
Sarah, grandson Marcus, and siblings, Larry Blumberg (Robin Lynn), Rena
Blumberg, and Leda Blumberg (Steve Cole).
Alice had a wide circle of friends who will miss her. The family is forever grateful
for the extraordinary care that Alice received at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer
Center under the supervision of Drs. Philip Paty and Dianne Reidy.
