Niskayuna – Arthur Lavin, 89, passed away on December 8, 2023, peacefully in his sleep at home, with his wife, daughter and son by his side. He was born on July 3, 1934 to Joseph and Etta Lavin in Schenectady, NY.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Lavin; his daughter, Tracy (Victor) Matos; his son, Todd (Melissa) Lavin; and his four grandchildren, Nathan Capen, Sarah Lavin, Zachary Lavin and Sophia Lavin.

Arthur earned a Master’s Degree in both chemincal and mechanical engineering and worked for both General Electric and Lockheed Martin. Early in his career he was fortunate to work with NASA on the Apollo Program. Always intellectually active, he taught math and science at the Schenectady Community College.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was proud of his family, especially his four grandchildren. Arthur was deeply cherished by his family, and he will be sorely missed. May his memory be a blessing to all who loved and knew him.

Funeral services for Arthur will be private to the family.
