Audrey Unger

Audrey Unger, 92, died peacefully in Clifton Park, New York on Sunday June 13th surrounded by her loving family.

Audrey was born on January 20th, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York to Rose and William Pasternak. She married her husband Daniel Unger in 1947. Audrey and Dan lived in Queens, New York and had two children, Carol and Bill. Audrey worked in the purchasing department at Long Island Jewish Hospital and as a school aide in a local public school. She moved to Fort Lee, New Jersey after her husband’s passing. She had a passion for reading and for making friends wherever she went. She took a genuine interest in the lives of others.

Audrey will be especially remembered for her love for her family and her generosity towards her grandchildren. Audrey moved to the Capital District in 2016 to be closer to her family.

Survivors include her son Dr. William Unger, his wife Mary Petersen Unger, and their two sons Jacob and Benjamin Unger, all of Acton, Massachusetts; her son-in law Dr. Jeffrey Leitner of Loudonville; her granddaughters Dr. Lynn Leitner Hickey (Kevin) of Clifton Park, and Jodi Leitner Tully (John) of Colonie. Audrey was cherished by her four great-grandchildren Evan, Daniel, Matthew, and Tara. Audrey was preceded in death too early by her husband Daniel S. Unger (1984) and her beloved daughter Carol D. Leitner (2017).

Services will be held graveside at 12 noon o  Wednesday, June 16th, 2021 at Beth Emeth Cemetery, 58 Turner Lane, Loudonville, New York. Relatives and friends are welcome.
