Bernice D. Burrick Obituary

Albany – Bernice D. Burrick, 95, died peacefully on Sunday April 6, 2025, at Albany Medical Center. Born in Albany, on February 26, 1930 to the late William and Lillian (Schenkel) Simmons. She graduated from Philip Schuyler High School, and married her beloved David J. Burrick on June 18, 1950. They were married for 25 years until his untimely death in 1975.

Bernice proudly worked for the NYS Department of Taxation. While soft spoken in nature, she was bright, caring and always had something to say. She was a loyal friend and did nice things for others in her own quiet and generous way. Bernice enjoyed playing games, first teaching others the rules and then beating them. Her later years were spent watching the news, playing Mah Jong and Rummikub. She liked a good corned beef sandwich, chinese food, coffee ice cream and pizza with anchovies. With her beautiful smile, she was stylishly dressed, wearing the perfect shade of lipstick and her nails beautifully manicured.

Bernice’s life centered around her family as a caring daughter, sister, wife, sister-in-law, mom, grandma, great grandma and aunt. Bernice is survived by her adored daughters, Rosalind (Frank) Dolhon and Marcia (Brian) Altman; her cherished grandchildren, David (Danielle) Burrick, Lauren (Scott) Kessler, Alex (Mariah) Dolhon, Lindsey Dolhon, Jeremy Altman and Sophie Altman; her adorable great-grandchildren, Jonah and Sadie Burrick, and Lucy and Tess Kessler; her devoted sister, Eunice (the late Lester) Golderman; and daughter-in-law, Karen Burrick (Arthur) Mack, and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband David, she was predeceased by her cherished son, Robert Burrick; and her sister, Harriet (Alvin) Brown.

Those wishing to remember Bernice in a special way can make a memorial contribution in her name to The American Heart Association at Heart.org or the charity of your choice.
