Albany – Bernice Katz, 93, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2023. Born September 2, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Isadore and Anna (Shapiro) Dubinsky, Bernice and her husband, the late Seymour Katz, raised their three children in Delmar, New York, where Bernice was a reading volunteer and Girl Scout leader. Bernice worked as an accountant at Owens Corning from 1976 to 1986, before retiring with Seymour to Sunrise, Florida where she was active in City of Hope and Hadassah.
Bernice was an avid reader, and enjoyed cooking, knitting and Mah Jongg. She was a lover of animals, especially dogs, but most of all enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
In addition to Seymour, her loving husband of almost 54 years, and her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her brother Alfred Dubinsky and her sister Claire Maiman (Herman). Bernice is survived by her children, Barry (May), Lori (Michael Goldstein) and Gail Stewart (Sean), and her grandchildren Emma, Carly, and Freddi Goldstein (Alex Cohen-Smith), Sam and Zach Stewart and Amy and Zoe Katz.
Her kindness and wit will live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren.
Donations in her memory may be made to City of Hope
