Bertram Bloch Obituary

Bertram Bloch, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Sunday.  Born in Brooklyn March 27, 1928, he was a proud alumnus of Erasmus Hall High School, Brooklyn College and Brooklyn Law School (at night- with two babies in a one-bedroom apartment) He married Roberta, also from Brooklyn, March 10, 1951, and they truly cherished their relationship. As a young father he opened his home to Roberta's young sister Arlene (Cookie), and she lived with them all through her high school years, even though they were barely past that age themselves.

In 1963 they made the big move to Long Beach, offering a private house and better schools for their children.  A transfer with the state brought them to Niskayuna in 1969, where they built a wonderful life, becoming part of the Gates of Heaven community.  Bert was part of the beginning of the Office of Professional Conduct for the State, and truly enjoyed his work.

Leaving New York in 2000, he drove to "where the snowball melted" and loved being able to walk his Doberman or bicycle, which he did till almost 90.  He loved doing the NYT crossword puzzle in ink, anything history, his beloved succession of dogs, and of course his family.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years Roberta, daughter Karen and her husband Dr. Gerald Hausler of Niskayuna and son Michael Bloc and his wife Denice of Denver.  He loved his six grandsons- Andrew, David and Dr. Theodore Hausler (Jessica), and Logan (Ashley) Taylor and Devon (Lauren) Bloc. His great grandchildren moved him up a generation; Aviva Hausler and Link Bloc.  His sister-in-law Arlene Tash has been a help in his life, and part of it since the day she moved in.
