Charlotte (Sidewater) Saunders

Albany – Charlotte Saunders, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday February 24, 2023 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia on January 2, 1940 she is the daughter of the late Gerson and Reba (Tartoff) Sidewater.

Charlotte earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Pennsylvania State University and would go on to obtain her Master’s Degree from Temple University. She was a teacher in the Schenectady City School District for many years until her retirement.

Charlotte was a supporter of music and the performing arts. She was a patron of several local orchestra groups and loved to travel with her friend Edith on worldwide adventures, taking them as far a St. Petersburg, Russia.

Charlotte was a longtime member and deeply involved at Congregation Agudat Achim in Schenectady. Her Jewish faith was very important to her and she was also a lifetime member of Hadassah and B’nai B'rith

Charlotte is survived by her son, Richard Saunders of Albany. She was predeceased by her husband Herbert Saunders in 2005.

Funeral services for Charlotte will be held at Montefiore Cemetery in Jenkintown, PA on Sunday February 26th.
