Christopher DeConno Obituary

Glenville – Christopher D. DeConno, 34, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 26, 2022 in the loving arms of his husband, Nicholas Seefeld. Born in Albany, he is the son of Janice (McInerney) Christensen and the late Daniel DeConno.

Chris was a graduate of Heatly High School in Green Island, Class of 2006. He would go on to earn his Bachelors and Masters from The College of St. Rose. Chris had a passion for special education that began in High School with his participation in the New Visions program which would lead to his career as a special education teacher. He was currently employed as a Special Education Teacher at Johnstown Junior-Senior High School. Chris served in many leadership roles at Johnstown including Technology Integration Coach, CSE Chairperson, JTA Officer and Co-Director of the Drama Club. Chris recently received National Board Certification Status and was currently pursuing a degree in school Administration. He was very excited for his future roles.

Chris will be remembered by all who knew him for his smile, sense of humor, and passion for the arts. Along with his special love for his niece, Charlie.

Chris is survived by his loving husband, Nicholas Seefeld; his mother, Janice (Don) Christensen; his sister, Erin (Jake) Brill; his cherished niece, Charlotte “Charlie” Brill; his mother and father-in-law, Shirley and Ray Seefeld; his brother-in-law, Tommy Seefeld; loving friends, Julie (Tajah) Umar and Antonia, “Toni” Stach (Dan) and his rescue dog, Teddy. Chris is also survived by many colleagues, friends, and dear students.

In addition to his father, Chris was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Timothy McInerney and Patricia Becker.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Chris in a special way can make memorial contributions in his name to The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society at mohawkhumane.org.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 31st from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm with a memorial service to follow. Burial will be private to the family.
