Albany – Christopher Valleau Ramsey, 68, died January 5, 2023 at his home. He was born on October 30, 1954 in Port-au-Prince Haiti to the Rev. John R. Ramsey and June P. Ramsey.
Chris was a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and attended Princeton University for two years. At age 20, Chris was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and spent eight years in CDPC in Albany. With support and medication, he was able to complete his B.A. at SUNY Albany. Chris later worked for the N.Y.S. Office of Children and Family Services and then for O.G.S. Center for Business Services.
A life—long scholar, Chris earned three advanced degrees: Masters in Social Studies from SUNY Albany; Masters in History from SUNY Albany; and Masters in Jewish Studies from Graduate Theological Union at Berkley. At the time of his death, Chris was preparing to take the CFP exam this Spring. Chris was a member of Temple Israel in Albany.
Chris is survived by his brother, Peter R. Ramsey (Isabel Phillips) of Weston, MA and his nephew, Stephen J. Freeman of Voorheesville.
Funeral services for Chris will be held on Tuesday January 10th at 11:00 am at The Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave. in Albany. Burial will follow later that day in Center White Creek Cemetery in Eagle Bridge, NY.
