Claire (Gassett) Beckenstein Obituary

Rotterdam – Claire Beckenstein, 95, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Tuesday February 4, 2025 surrounded by her loving sons. Born in New London, CT on August 21, 1929 she is the daughter of the late Samuel and Minnie Gossett.

Claire worked for The Capital Region BOCES for many years until her retirement. She was also a lifetime member of the Sisterhood at Temple Beth Israel, member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rotterdam Seniors.

Claire is survived by her sons, Evan Beckenstein and Harry (Bonny) Beckenstein; and her grandchildren, Heather Erin Beckenstein and Sierra Lynn Beckenstein. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Claire was predeceased by her beloved husband, Martin Beckenstein and her sister, Mildred Platnick.

Funeral services for Claire will be held graveside on Friday February 7th at 2:00pm at Agudat Achim Cemetery, 100 Mt. Stuart Rd. in Rotterdam.
