Albany – Claire (Roth) Brandt,88, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday May 14, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Coney Island, NY she is the daughter of the late Albert and Esther Geffner.

Claire was a graduate of Albany High School and would go on to work for The New York State Legislature until her retirement. She was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth for most of her life. Claire was an avid shopper and enjoyed playing mah jong, canasta and poker with “the ladies”. Claire was an active volunteer with Make-A-Wish and was also honored as Volunteer of the Year for her dedicated service. The thing that brought Claire the most joy in life was being surrounded by her loving family especially her beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Claire is survived by her children, Alan (Karen) Roth, Elisa (the late Brian) Goldstein and Sheryl (Ross) Schoonmaker; her step-son, Alan Brandt; her brother, Howard (Dale) Geffner; her grandchildren, Andrew Roth, Danielle Roth, Jake Roth, Amber Roth, Joshua (Hallie) Goldstein, Jessica (Jami) Wells, Jeffrey Schoonmaker, Cory (Beth) Schoonmaker and Casey (Kristina) Schoonmaker; her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Olivia, Cali, Logan, Savannah and Willow.

Claire was predeceased by her first husband, Paul Roth and second husband, Seymour Brandt; her brother, Gilbert Geffner; her sister, Sylvia (Martin) Pomerantz; step-daughter, Jill Proskin and long-time companion, Harold Greenstein.

Funeral services for Claire will be held on Friday May 17th at 12:00 pm at The Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave in Albany. Burial will follow at Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville. 

Shiva will be held at Elisa's home, 36 Lois Ct. in Colonie, on Friday after the funeral until 8pm and then Sunday from 3-5 pm & 7-9 pm and Monday from 3-5 pm & 7-9 pm.
