Donald M. Rubin

Donald M. Rubin of Clifton Park, NY, passed away May 9, 2023, after a lengthy illness. He was 84.

Don was born in Winthrop, Mass., in 1938, to Sarah and Irving Rubin. Irving died when Don was 12, and as the youngest of five, Don grew up with a deep sense of gratitude, and an appreciation for education and hard work. He earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern and an MBA from Rollins College. Don worked at General Electric for 34 years.

He also believed in giving back. He was a founding member of Congregation Beth Shalom in Clifton Park. He volunteered as a ski instructor for special needs children at the Double H Ranch and as an instructor at Y-Knot Sailing.

Don was a man of few words, unending positivity, and unconditional love for his family. He was married to Barbara Kaye Rubin for over 30 years and Sandra Rubin for 14 years. Don is predeceased by Barbara Rubin, his daughter Lisa Rubin, and brothers Mark, Seldon, and Lloyd. He is survived by his brother Ira Rubin, daughter Tracy Kaye Blumen (Ethan), wife Sandra Rubin, and his grandchildren: Eli and Mira Blumen; Eliana and Tobiah Eats; and Leo and Sally Finkle. He is also survived by Corey and Jill Finkle, and Seth and Ilana Finkle.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 11, at 1p.m. at Congregation Beth Shalom,688 Clifton Park Center Road in Clifton Park, followed by interment at Beth Slalom’s Cemetery, 246 Schermerhorn Street, Rotterdam. The family will sit Shiva at Don and Sandy’s house in Clifton Park on Thursday commencing at 7pm, on Friday at 7pm at Congregation Beth Shalom and again on Saturday and Sunday at Don and Sandy’s home, commencing at 7pm
