Dr. Barbara Edlund

Dr. Barbara A. Edlund, 78, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on September 18, 2026. She fought a courageous four-year battle against renal cancer. Barbara was born in Albany, NY. She spent her childhood in Bakersfield, CA and Rochester, NY, graduating from Penfield High School in 1966. Barbara and Arthur Edlund married in 1967 and started their family. She graduated from SUNY Albany in 1974 with a BS and earned her MD from Upstate Medical School in 1978. She spent her medical career as an ER Physician at Oneida City Hospital and Medical Director for the Madison County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment program.

Barbara was an avid reader, quilter, and enjoyed creative endeavors. She loved music, theater, and gardening. Most of all, she loved her family. She poured herself out in service wherever she went. She was a member of Living Waters Church in Ringoes, NJ.

She is survived by her four children: Carl, Arlene, Kimberly and Sara; two sisters: Gail, Carol and her husband, Rene and their four daughters; 11 grandchildren: William, Thomas, Meredith, Seth, Dylan, Lunar, Caleb, Preston, Sadie, Eddie and Fumie; and three great grandchildren: Noah, Christopher and Mia. She will be dearly missed by all.
