Dr. Edmond Haven, 84, of Delmar, NY, died on Monday, February 21, 2022, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, Dr. Haven was the son of the late Arnold and Adele Haven. He was a graduate of the Poughkeepsie High School and Syracuse University, and then attended the Albany College of Pharmacy prior to graduating New York University Dental School. Dr. Haven practiced dentistry in Delmar, NY and he was the Dental Director for the Medicaid program for the NYS Department of Health for many years. He also served as a consultant for OMIG Department of Fraud and Abuse where he worked until a week before his death. Dr. Haven was a Captain in the US Army and was also a member of the Masons. He was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth and their brotherhood, as well as a member of the Dental Society of NY, member of the American Radio Relay League, and past-President of the Mended Hearts in Albany. Dr. Haven had many interests including miniatures and doll house design, designing jewelry, needlepoint, reading mystery books and spy stories, traveling and he also was a ham radio operator. Dr. Haven will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Helene Goldblatt Haven, and two daughters: Lisa (Shaun) Nicholson and Melinda (Alan) Kaufmann. He also leaves his grandchildren Marissa Kaufmann and Branden Kaufmann and a brother, Howard Haven. Dr. Haven is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in the Mendleson Chapel on the grounds of the Beth Emeth Cemetery, 58 Turner Lane Loudonville, NY on Wednesday, February 23rd at 11:00am followed by interment. Masks will be required at the cemetery. Dr. Haven’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to St. Peter’s Hospital Cardiac Care Unit and the ICU Nursing and Physicians staff. Those wishing to remember Dr. Haven may make a memorial contribution in his memory to Congregation Beth Emeth, the American Heart Association, Dana Farber Cancer Institute or the American Cancer Society.
