Eleanore Butler

BEVERLY, Mass. - Eleanore Mildred Butler (née Teitelbaum), “Ellie”, died peacefully on May 15th, 2023 in Beverly, Massachusetts. She had just turned 91 years old. 

Ellie was born on April 12, 1932, in the Bronx, New York, to Samuel and Mary. In 1953, Ellie married the love of her life, Bernard Butler in Albany. They were married for nearly 70 years. Bernie passed away in January of this year. 

Ellie is survived by her daughter, Sandra Sparr (Gary), her son Martin Butler (Jill), her five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephew, David Butler, and her niece, Barbara Dombrowski.

Ellie was an avid reader. She also enjoyed ceramics, tennis, Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, traveling the world and spending time with her family. She will also be remembered for her cooking and baking prowess, instigating many (mostly) friendly-fights over who would get the last slice of her apple pie at family events. Her intellect, humor, and kindness left an impression on everyone she met. 

Graveside services will be held in the Ohav Shalom Cemetery, 1620 Western Ave., Albany, NY, 12203 on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 1 p.m. To view the service via livestream, please click on the link below:
