Albany – Elizabeth “Libby” Godfried, 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 21, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany and raised in Rensselaer, she was the 7th of 8 children of the late Samuel and Bessie (Dworchansky) Kolker.

Libby was a graduate of Rensselaer High School and would go on to Samaritan Nursing School where she became a Registered Nurse. She also earned a Bachelors Degree from Russell Sage College

After marrying Dr. William Godfried they moved to Athens, NY where he operated his Dentistry practice and raised their family. They were married for 59 years until his passing in 2007. Libby proudly worked as a School Nurse Teacher for over 20 years in the Catskill Central School District until her retirement. She was very giving of her time and was lovingly referred to by her family as “volunteer extraordinaire”. She was very involved in every community where she lived. (Athens, Catskill and later Colonie)

Libby’s highest priority was her family. She always made sure to bring her family together for all of the most important events from Thanksgiving to birthdays and anniversaries. She never missed anything.

Libby is survived by her daughters, Betsy (Donald) Feldstein and Susanne (Gerald) Segelman; her grandchildren, Michelle Feldstein and Rabbi Micah (Michal) Segelman; and her great-grandchildren, Shira, Shmuele Moshe, Ayelet Aidel, Chaim Zev, Hadassah Bina and Yechiel Yackov.

Funeral services for Libby will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday September 26th at at Temple Israel Cemetery in Catskill, NY (28 North Jefferson Ave Catskill, NY 12414.)
