Elizabeth ( Liz) Schulman

Elizabeth “Liz” Schulman of Tampa Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 8th 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Liz was born in Albany, New York on April 13th 1956.  
With an Associates degree from Maria College, she became a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (C.O.T.A.).  Her early years were at the Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in the Capital District where she worked with Down syndrome children in elementary school.  Liz loved her students as much as she loved her own children.
The second half of her career was spent in Florida and involved working with patients both in their home and in nursing homes.  She helped them regain their confidence by relearning the activities of daily living.  Her passion for helping people made it easy for her to love helping her patients, and her patients adored her just the same.  She was hardworking, dedicated and always had a smile on on her face.
Her favorite pastimes in retirement were long bike rides on nature trails and enjoying sunsets at any beach nearby. When her grandchildren were born, she made it a priority to fly back and forth to Albany every couple of months to witness and enjoy as many milestones as possible. 
Liz is survived by her loving husband, Seth Schulman, of 29 years; her beloved children, Kara Rice of Albany, NY and Adam (Jennifer) Rice of Guilderland, NY; her cherished grandchildren, Abigail, Isabelle and Steven Rice; sister-in-law, Nancy Rice of Albany, NY; her brothers, Robert Young of Ormond Beach, FL and Kevin Young of East Berne, NY; brother-in-laws Michael (Ruth) Schulman of Clifton Park, NY, and Jeffrey Schulman of Edison, NJ; sister-in-law Elyse Schulman of Edison, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. 
Liz was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Sandra Sikora and her in-laws, the Honorable Martin and Mimi Schulman. 
Liz, Ma Mum and Grandma will be truly missed by us all, but her love and memories will last forever.

Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 26th, 2021 at 12:30pm at Levine Memorial Chapel 649 Washington Ave, Albany, NY 12206
