Obituary

Ballston Spa - Eric Richard Kantor, 73, passed into eternal peace on June 26, 2023, surrounded by his family. Eric was born in Englewood, NJ, on April 21, 1950, and grew up in Teaneck, NJ. He graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA, and lived most of his adult life in Albany, NY, and most recently in Ballston Spa, NY. He worked for many years as a programming manager for local cable TV companies and was very involved in distance learning projects.

Eric’s talents involved creative pursuits. As a young adult, he enjoyed painting and later became passionate about photography after field testing one of the first digital cameras for consumer use. From an early age, he loved playing pinball and as an adult collected vintage pinball machines. This hobby led to him researching and authoring the 8th and 9th Editions of The Pinball Price Guide. He also was an aficionado of jazz and classic rock music.

The greatest loves of his life were his sons, Jonathan and Benjamin. Among Eric’s fondest memories were family vacations spent with them in Cape May, NJ, Florida, and Vermont, and going to museums and Yankee games.

Eric is survived by his sons, Jonathan (Mackenzie) of Rotterdam, NY, and Benjamin of Seattle, WA, and their mother, Deborah Clark Kantor of Albany; his sister Donna (Stephen) Krasner of Delray Beach, FL; his nephew Andrew (Taryn) Krasner, his nieces Erin (Niraj) Patel and Amiee (Brent) Mittleman, all of Florida; numerous grand-nieces and nephews and cousins; and his lifelong friend Donald Kohn of Guilford, CT.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Jerome and Rascha (Ohsie) Kantor, and his grandparents, Philip and Eva Kantor and Isadore and Anna Ohsie.

Eric will be buried in the Berkshires Memorial Forest in Drury, MA, at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Eric’s memory to the Learning Disabilities Association of America (www.ldaamerica.org), United for All, Inc. (www.understood.org), or the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York (www.regionalfoodbank.net).
