Estelle Garber, age 81, of Clifton Park, died on Monday, November 22, 2021. Born in Springfield, MA
, Estelle was the daughter and only child of Abraham “Phil" Davis and Shirley Davis. After an early career in the field of dental hygiene in New York, it was Estelle's good fortune to meet William Garber, a widower who had raised four children with their mother, Laura Garber. Bill's love and devotion to Estelle, and his wish to share his family, made for a long and happy marriage. Bill and Estelle settled in Clifton Park, where they became part of a wonderful neighborhood, where people looked out for one another. Throughout her life Estelle had a passion for physical fitness, discovering and adapting recipes, collecting pottery and supporting the arts. She collected teddy bears, and anyone who looked in the backseat of her car could see a teddy bear wearing a seat belt and a mask. Estelle also enjoyed volunteering at the Clifton Park Senior Center and enjoyed their educational programs. Estelle valued family and friends and kept in contact with people via letters, birthday cards, phone calls and day trips. She kept in touch with her 94-year-old Aunt Rachel until Estelle’s last days. She also kept every card that anyone sent. Estelle was known for her organization and cataloguing; those skills rivaled the Dewey Decimal System. Estelle navigated life on her own terms. She was a person with extraordinary personal discipline. Her fortitude, strength and courage allowed her to make this journey with dignity and self-determination. Estelle was predeceased by her beloved parents, as well as her great love, William Garber, who died in 2016.
She is survived by many cousins and relatives, as well as Bill’s children: Elissa Hyman (James), Stamford, CT; Daniel Garber (Susan Paul), Princeton, NJ and Raymond Garber, Houston, TX. She was also predeceased by Gerald Garber. Estelle leaves family members, including Aunt Rachel Singer, Manchester, CT, Shelley Grant, Springfield, MA, Sandra Goldstein, Sharon, MA, David Grant, Westfield, MA, Debbie Shoag, Windsor, CT, Julie Miller-White, Rochester, NY, Laurie Miller, Westford, MA, Carol Neal, Pittsburgh, PA and many cousins of her Davis family, including Gloria Davis Slossberg, CA and Scott Davis (NC).
