Ethel (Flisser) Reich

Ethel “Lynn” Marilyn Reich, 87 of Niskayuna, New York died on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Ethel was born in the Bronx and was a graduate of the William Taft High School Class of 1953. After her graduation from high school she was employed by 20th Century Fox where she worked her way from the clerical pool to executive secretary where she stayed until she started her family.    Ethel later worked as a legal secretary as well as for an insurance firm, ending with a stint as a secretary at Gettry Marcus, CPAs in Manhattan.  She was a diehard Yankee’s fan and also lived for her Mah Jongg games.  Ethel enjoyed reading mystery /thrillers and was known to do needlepoint, crewel or crocheting while watching TV.

She continued to do crossword puzzles to the end of her days.  Ethel was a former member of Temple Sinai in Forest Hills, New York and a member of Congregation Gates of Heaven in Schenectady.

She is survived by her daughters, Stacy Cohen (David) of Niskayuna, NY and Barbara Becker (Mark obm) of Commack, Long Island, sister, Francine “Julia” Helfman (Joel) of Laffayette Hill, Pa, grandsons, Benjamin Cohen (Ilana) of Wayne, NJ and Steven Cohen (fiancé Bethanne Goldman) of Sommerville, Massachusetts.. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.   Ethel was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Howard Reich, parents, Boris and Estelle Flisser and son-in-law, Mark Becker.

Graveside services will be held at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery on Watt Street in Schenectady, NY on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 11:00am.  Those wishing to remember Ethel in a special way may consider a donation to the Foundation for Ellis Medicine, the National Celiac Organization, Beth Shraga Hebrew Academy of the Capital District or a charity of one’s choice.
