Albany  - Florence Arlene Abrookin, 97, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and dear friend, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 in Maryland with her children and grandchildren by her side. Florence was born on October 11, 1928, in Albany, NY, to her late parents Abraham and Anna Anusewitz, and she was the sister to the late Beverly Anusewitz.

Florence graduated from Albany High School and married her devoted husband, the late Emanuel (Manny) Abrookin, who passed away in 1994.  Florence and Manny lived in Albany, NY and were proud and active members of Temple Israel.  Her son Steven sadly passed away in 2024.  Florence is survived by her loving children Bonnie (Alan), Marcia (Dave), and Rebecca (Ronnie), niece Helene (Larry), her loving grandchildren Aaron (Julie), Adam (Peri), Rachel (Scott), Elana (Robert), David (Cindy), Heather, Gideon (Tamar), Oren (Hannah), Chana (Yoni), Reena and Orly, and her loving great-grandchildren Lila, Dalia, John, Jacob, Roberta, Sofia, Leah and Kayla.

Florence proudly worked for the New York State Assembly.  Florence also enjoyed living in Florida and Maryland. Florence took great pleasure in playing mahjong with her friends and enjoyed traveling, including trips to Israel, California, and New York City on her 90th birthday. Florence effortlessly brought joy and happiness to everyone she met and made them better just by being in their lives. Family and friends meant everything to Florence.  Florence made her life a testament to the importance of love and finding beauty in this world. Florence will be deeply missed, and her memory will be cherished forever. 

Funeral services will be held at Temple Israel, 600 New Scotland Ave. in  Albany, at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Burial will follow at Temple Israel Cemetery. The funeral service will be livestreamed on The Temple Israel Website at Funeral Livestream
