Florence Kayle Obituary

Albany - Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Florence Kline Kayle 100, daughter of Jacob and Eva (Lieberman) Kline, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Florence was born on May 28, 1923, in Albany, New York. She met the love of her life, Leonard Kayle, in 1943 and they married shortly thereafter. They moved to Queens, NY in 1950, and enjoyed parties, dancing, bridge, and bowling. Florence became extremely proficient in bridge and achieved the game’s top distinction, holding many master points. She was an avid reader and spent countless hours doing crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. In 1974, Florence and Leonard moved to Manhattan and immersed themselves in all the city had to offer. After 62 years of marriage, Florence cared for Leonard until his passing in April, 2006.  Florence returned to her Albany roots in 2020, sharing many happy occasions with her family by her side. Her most cherished moments were spending them with her loving daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Florence is survived by her two daughters, Kathie (Paul) Rizzuto of New York, New York and Elissa (Bruce) Peckage of Albany, New York. She is also survived by four grandchildren Jordan (Robyn Stotter) Rizzuto, Andrew (Carla) Peckage, Janna (David) Ross, and Ian Peckage along with six great grandchildren: Ethan, Leni, Jude, Ella, Eden, and Asher.

Florence’s family gratefully acknowledges the care, love and support of the Red Unit Staff of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held graveside on Sunday, February 18th at 2 PM at Congregation Beth Abraham Jacob Cemetery (1626 Western Avenue, Albany, NY 12203). Shiva will be held at the Peckage residence after the funeral services on Sunday and on Monday from 12 pm-5 pm.
