Cohoes – Frances Gail “Fran” Kelman passed on Tuesday October 15, 2024 in the comfort of her home. Born in Troy on January 27, 1949 she is the daughter of the late Sander and Josephine (Gaborski) Kelman.

Fran was a graduate of Cohoes High School and would go on to obtain a degree from Mildred Elley Business School. Fran worked for The New York State Senate for 12 years before joining the family business in 1988, N.H. Kelman Scrap & Recycling, where she worked for more than 30 years until her retirement in 2022.

Fran adored and cherished all of her neighbors in Cohoes where she could be found walking her dogs in her white Keds and chatting with her neighbors. She could also be found sitting by her pond with a morning cup of coffee or snuggled up with her fur babies enjoying a Hallmark movie.

Fran is survived by her siblings, Marci (Dr. Bernard) Weinstein, Don (Dr. Glenda) Kelman, Jan Heggen and Jason Kelman; her nephews, Dan Weinstein, Aaron (Cory) Heggen, Adam Heggen and Nathan Kelman; her nieces, Amy Heggen, Rachel (Adam) Lippman, and Katelin (Brian Leeds) Kelman;  and her fur babies, Chloe and Peaches. She is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends and dear neighbors.

In addition to her parents, Fran was predeceased by her dogs, Nick, Max, Chester and Gunner. She will be missed by everyone.

Funeral services for Fran will be held graveside at Beth El Cemetery, 51 Belle Ave. in Troy, on Sunday October 20th at 2:00pm.
