A life long resident of Albany, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday December 13, 2025. he was the son of the late Betty D & Louis J Simon.
After graduating Albany High School, Fred enlisted in the US Navy where he spent 6 years. Returning to Albany in 1966, he re-entered the family business, Lou Simon Wines & Liquors until his retirement in 2007. Fred was an active lay leader in many communal organizations. He was the Commander of the JWV Post 105, Vice Chairman of the Center for Disability Services, board member of Congregation Beth Emeth, member of Bethlehem Lodge #85 (Masons) and Chancellor Commander of Knights of Pythias. Most recently, he was President of the Albany Hebrew Tailors Association.
Fred is survived by Shirley, his wife of 54 years, two children Joel (Ruthie) Simon and Beth (Michael) Harwood. Grandfather to Hattie and Avery Simon and Jake and Mara Harwood. He was predeceased by his son Andrew Bryan Simon, and brothers Herman & Robert C Simon.
Funeral services for Fred will be held on Monday December 15th at 1:30pm at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, Albany, NY, burial will follow at the Albany Hebrew Tailors Cemetery 1620 Western Avenue, Guilderland.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice 315 S. Manning Blvd, Albany, NY and The Einhorn Center for Jewish Education @ Cong. Beth Emeth 100 Academy Road, Albany, NY 12208.

Shiva will be held at the home of Fred and Shirley on Tuesday and Wednesday (except between the hours of 5:00 - 6:30) A Minyan will be held at 7pm each night.
