Grigory Khaitov Obituary

Grigory Khaitov, 66, of Albany, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving and devoted family by his side.

Grigory was born on November 13, 1954 in Poltava, Ukraine.  He obtained a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and worked as an engineer all his life.  When he immigrated with his family to Albany, NY in 1989, he worked as a Construction Project Manager for various organizations.  His skillset was incredible, and he was responsible for successfully building and renovating many schools in the Capital Region.  Grigory was extremely dedicated to his job and was very much loved and respected by his friends and colleagues.

Grigory was a wonderful, strong, and amazing human being who was known in the community for his kindness and generosity towards others.  He had a sweet and caring nature, pure heart and an amazing smile that would light up a room.  Grigory’s heart was truly made of gold.  He always helped others and supported his family and friends.

The most important and precious thing in Grigory’s life was his family, who he loved so much, and completely devoted and dedicated his life to.  He was an incredible, amazing, and loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He loved his daughter so much, and was always there to support her in every possible way.  His wife was the light of his life, who he loved endlessly, and made sure that she was always taken care of and happy.  His grandchildren meant the world to him and he absolutely adored them.  He was so proud of them, and made sure to visit and spend time with them every day.  Grigory’s love for his family was truly one of a kind.  He always protected and took care of them by loving them so much.

Grigory is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Margarita Khaitov, his daughter Irina Kasparov, his son-in-law, Marat Kasparov, who was like a son to him, his two loving grandchildren, Alisa and David Kasparov, and his sister Kira Spiro.  We will forever miss his sweet and amazing smile, extraordinary love for his family, his sense of humor, incredible spirit and strength, and his kind heart.  He will always be in our hearts and memories.

A funeral service will be held 11:00am, Monday, September 6, 2021 at Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave. Albany.  Masks are required.  Interment will follow in Temple Israel Cemetery, 1626  Western Ave. Guilderland.
