East Greenbush - Harriet Spector died Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Albany Medical Center.
Born and raised in Albany, Harriet attended Milne High School and later Albany Business College. She dedicated the majority of her professional career to service with New York State, beginning her work with the School of Criminal Justice and later continuing with the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations (GOER). Through the years, she earned the respect and friendship of many colleagues for her dedication and commitment.
Following her retirement, Harriet greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Sarasota, Florida, where she created many cherished memories.
Above all else, Harriet loved her family immensely. She was a devoted and loving wife to her late husband Douglas and their love and partnership were a steady center of her life. She was also a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who fiercely defended and cared for those she loved. In her own unique way, she sought to be the matriarch of her family, always looking out for the people closest to her heart.
Harriet is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Heather (McDonald) Spector; her cherished grandchildren, Avery and Tate Spector; and her sister, Sara Kurland. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Spector and her sister, Gerry Moss.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 15th at 2:00 pm at The Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue, Albany. Burial will follow at Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville.
Harriet will be remembered for her strength, devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and the deep love she carried for her children and grandchildren.
