Harvey Hugh Levin (89), born in Albany, New York on August 1, 1933, passed away at home on Friday, August 12, 2022, surrounded by family after a short period of time under hospice care. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diana (Banker) Levin, son Paul Levin (Heidi), daughter Jennifer Gerber (Tim), grandchildren, Samuel, Nathaniel and Abigail Levin, and grand dog Dugan, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Samuel Levin and Sarah Noon Levin; sister Annette (Levin) Tenney,brothers, Arthur Levin, Melvin Levin and Edwin Levin.
Harvey was a lifelong resident of the Albany area, except for a short stint in Derry, New Hampshire. He was a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College and an Army veteran. After being on active duty during the Korean War, he spent the majority of his working career in retail working for companies such as W.T. Grant, Denby’s, B. Lodge & Company and Home Depot. He always had a passion for connecting and helping people.
Harvey was a member of the Noah Lodge #754, Altamont, NY, Cyprus Shriners #5, Albany, NY and American Legion Post #1493, Voorheesville, NY. Harvey was always quick with a joke and had a contagious smile. He was an avid bowler with several 300 games under his belt. He spent many hours watching his children and grandchildren participate in various activities; he was devoted to his family. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the NY Yankees, NY Giants and Boston Celtics. He was also known to be fond of a good scotch.
Calling hours will be Thursday, August 18 from 4pm to 7pm at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave Albany, New York with a Masonic Service at 6:30pm. A short service will be held Friday, August 19 at 9:00 am at Levine Memorial Chapel. A burial service will take place following the service at 11:30am at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
