Helen J. Kaplan Obituary

Selkirk – Helen Jacobs Kaplan, 78, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Born in New York, NY she was the daughter of the late Barrett and Ruth (Doblin) Jacobs.

Helen graduated from George Washington High School in 1963 and attended Boston University, Russell Sage and The College of St. Rose. She worked as an administrative assistant at SUNY for many years until her retirement.

Helen loved spending time with her husband, Allen, and their sweet dog, Moby. She enjoyed slapstick comedies and classic movies. She will always be remembered by her family as a loving, loyal, hard-working, meticulously clean, and wonderful wife and mother. 

Helen was a friend of Bill W’s for over 40 years.

Helen is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Allen Kaplan; sister, Sara Wolpin, her loving children, Nancy (Kevin Wolken), David (Danielle) Kaplan and Anita Kaplan (Noah Fiedel); her cherished grandchildren, Madelaine, Mallory, Sam, Jack and Leo.

In addition to her parents, Helen was also predeceased by beloved canine companions, Sibo, Barry and Hotch.

The family will sit shiva through Tuesday, January 23rd at the family home.

A memorial service will be held on June 23, 2024 at 12:00 pm at The Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave. in Albany.
