Helene C. Antonelli

Helene Charlotte Antonelli, 85, of Albany, New York, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, surrounded by her children, Bruce and Pam, beloved dog Molly, and her husband Chuck in spirit, after a long battle with cancer and other health issues.  She fought to the end.  Helene was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister, daughter, step-mother, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many.  She will be missed by all.

Helene was born on November 13, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York to Bella and Henry Lobel, her beloved parents.  She grew up in Brooklyn, and later moved to Staten Island, Geneseo, andeventually Albany, New York.

Helene was a fantastic mother, grandmother, wife, and friend.  She also loved her job as inmate records coordinator with the New York State Department of Corrections, which was her passion.  The outpouring of sadness at her passing from former work colleagues is a testament to the impact she had on people and how much she was loved and respected.  Helene was always there for people in need-she never turned away anyone.  One example of her love and caring is this—when she worked for a foster home in Staten Island in the 1970’s, there was a fire that burnt down the home and without hesitation she took home two children to care for until other arrangements could be made.   That is the type of person she was.

We will miss Helene greatly.  The world will be a sadder place without her.  

Helene was predeceased by her parents, brothers, and other family members.  She is survived by her children Bruce and Pamela, her husband Chuck, granddaughter Kelsey, beloved dog Molly, and other family members.  Her dogs Buffy, Rocky, and Buddy will greet her in heaven.

The family requests that any donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. 

Funeral services were held privately for the family.
