Albany - Helene (Lee) Lieberman, 90, passed away on December 1, 2023 at The Teresian House. She was born in Newburgh, NY to Harry and Sarah Alpern.
Lee left Newburgh at the age of 17 to attend Albany Teachers College (currently SUNY Albany) where shortly after she met and subsequently married the love of her life, Bert. They were married for 68 years before his passing in 2020.
Lee and Bert raised 4 daughters - Risa (d.2010), Joni (Don Basen), Marcy (Jeff Weisburgh), and Amy (Marc Flatt). They were so proud of their 5 grandchildren - Elyse (Jed Sigal), Betsy, Jenna, Ari (Jennifer) and Iyal. They were both so thrilled to meet their great grandson Riley Issac Sigal when he was born 3 years ago It gave her such joy and pride to hear him call her “GG Lee.”
Lee was a passionate crafter and knitter which inspired her to become an entrepreneur and proprietor of the hugely successful A Stitch in Time yarn shop.
Lee loved to entertain and frequently lavished her family and friends in NY and FL with spectacular dinner parties.
May these sweet reminiscences fill the hearts of those who loved her. May her memory be a blessing.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday December 3rd at 1:00 pm at The Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave. in Albany followed by burial at Congregation Beth Abraham Jacob Cemetery, Western Ave. In Guilderland.
Shiva will be held at 4 Dexter Lane Albany, NY 12203 on Sunday December 3rd, Monday December 4th and Tuesday December 5th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm with a Shiva Minyan at 7:00 pm each night.
