Colonie – Igor G. Ziskin,74, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 4, 2024 at home surrounded by loving family.
Born on April 21st, 1950 in Gomel, Belarus, he is the son of the late Genah and Frida Ziskin. Igor had a zest for life. From a young age he was feisty and fun, always playing pranks and loved
to be surrounded by family and friends. Before emigrating to the United States, Igor was a truck driver for 20 years, and served in the Soviet Union Army for 2 years. Igor, nicknamed Diezel, loved all outdoor activities. When he wasn’t working he was outside fishing, swimming in the Sozh river, and his favorite, playing hockey with his late brother, Marik Ziskin.
Igor and his beloved wife of 48 and a half years, Nina, left the Soviet Union and came to the United States with their two children in 1990. After arriving in America the family of 4 settled in Albany. Igor worked as a mechanic for 15+ years. After retiring, Igor spent his time running a “Russian daycare” that only his grandchildren were allowed to attended.
Igor is survived by his wife, Nina Ziskin; his daughters; Aleftina “Tina” (William) Ziskin-Turner and Galina Ziskin; his sister, Alla (Itzhak) Sakovich; and his grandchildren, Amillion and Faith (his favorite grandchild) Turner, Alexander Madera and Jayda Wilkinson.
A memorial service for Igor will be held on Thursday May 16th at 1:00 pm at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave.
