Irene ( Renee) Harriet (Friedman) Ferrer

Irene “Renee” (Friedman) Ferrer, age 85 of Boynton Beach, FL., formerly of Albany, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised in Beacon, NY, Renee moved to Albany in 1954 where she attended and graduated from New York State College for Teachers. During this time, she met and married Arnold Ferrer who she resided with in Albany until they moved full time to Boynton Beach, FL.

Renee was dedicated to helping her local charitable organizations. She was particularly involved with the Albany Chapter of B’nai B’rith Women, Abigail Lodge #3, Daughters of Sarah and was a life member of Hadassah.

Renee devoted her time as a volunteer to the Albany City School District. She channeled her love of teaching into helping students in the elementary school reading program.

Ever the social butterfly, Renee could always be found playing Mah Jong or bridge, lunching at the clubhouse or on marathon phone calls with friends and family. Her friends were an extension of her family and she was always there to lend a helping hand.

Renee and Arnie were married for 57 years before Arnie passed away in 2015. Renee is survived by her sister Susan “Susie” Friedman and brother-in-law Arnold (Arnie) Ackerman of Miami, FL, her daughter Sharon (Ferrer) Goldstein and loving son-in-law Bruce Goldstein of Stamford, CT, and son Mark Ferrer of Carolina Beach, NC. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Lauren and Michelle Goldstein, Leah and Lindsay Ferrer.

Services will be held privately on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Shiva will be observed that afternoon at Hilton Garden Inn, 1389 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY from 3-5 p.m. with a minyan service at 3 p.m.
