Latham - Iris Elaine Rosen Israel was born on July 22, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY.  She was the daughter of the late Frances and Merton Rosen. She grew up in Schenectady, NY, and often spoke nostalgically about her upbringing as the daughter of a pharmacist. 

In 1969, she married James Israel, a marriage that lasted 57 years until her passing on May 8, 2025.  Iris was proud of her accomplishments as a special education teacher and was devoted to caring for her students.  She also centered her life around her family and friends, showing her love through her passion for cooking.

In addition to her beloved husband, James, Iris is survived by daughters Janna Israel, and Karen (Benjamin) Acrish; her beloved grandchildren, Abigail and Aliya, who will miss their Grammy very much and her brother, Michael (Justine) Rosen.
