Albany - J. Peter Siegel, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, in Albany, NY, the city where he was born on January 23, 1941.
Peter led a full and accomplished life. He graduated with a degree in economics from Lafayette College in 1963. Shortly after, he embarked on a successful career as owner and president of Colonie Truck Sales and Leasing. Upon retiring from his primary career, Peter found a new passion in real estate.
Peter loved spending time outdoors, specifically fishing and boating on Lake George. He was also a devoted baseball fan, remaining a lifelong Dodgers enthusiast even after the team left Brooklyn. He had a deep love for animals, particularly his pet cats, who brought him much happiness. However, his greatest joy came from his family, particularly his role as a grandfather.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Harriet, his two children, Eric (Jennifer) Siegel and Margery (Francis) Carmody, and his cherished grandchildren, Jane, Patrick, and Peter. He also leaves behind his brother, Harlan (Mary Ann) Siegel, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany. Burial will follow at Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peter's memory to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society or the Lake George Land Conservancy.
Peter will be remembered for his warm heart, entrepreneurial spirit, and the love he had for his family, community, and his beloved pets. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
