JAMES ALLEN COHEN

Our beloved and wonderful father James Allen Cohen, passed on Saturday December 17th, 2022. Jim was born in Albany, New York on October 10th, 1939 and was passionate about improving the community through his work at the Guilderland Planning Board and as a long-time committeeman. Recently, he served as the Vice-Chair of the Democratic Party in Guilderland and has run for County Legislature also as a Guilderland Democrat. Jim was employed by Hill & Markes, Inc, and was in the paper industry for over 35 Years. Jim graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Journalism and Political Science. While at Syracuse Jim, was also a sports reporter for the Daily Orange.

He will be sincerely missed by his friends and family, including his brother, Henry Walter Cohen and his family as well as Jim’s immediate family, including his three children: Susan Cohen of Troy, New York, David Cohen of Guilderland, New York and Michael Cohen of Albany, New York. Jim is predeceased by his wife Katherine Englander Cohen and were married on June 27th, 1965 at the Gramercy Park Hotel, NYC.

Those wishing to remember Jim in a special way can make memorial contributions in his name to The Sierra Club.

Graveside services will be held at the Beth Emeth Cemetery on Turner Lane in Loudonville, NY on Wednesday.  December 21. 2022 at 2:00pm All are welcome to attend.
