Janice Cramer

Slingerlands, NY – Janice E. Cramer passed away on March 14, 2021 at the age of 90. She was the daughter of Solomon A. and Esther Bender. Jan graduated from Russell Sage College, where she met her first husband, Merrill Laven. Together, they raised two sons, Mark (Leslie) Laven and Robert (LeeAnn) Laven.
In 1974 she married Marvin Cramer of Schenectady and they relocated to Parker, CO. They lived there for nearly 30 years and made great friends, enjoyed the sunshine, great outdoors including the Rocky Mountains. No matter where she went, Janice made friends. She loved people and kept in contact with them all throughout her life. Janice also volunteered at many charitable organizations over the years and was always generous with her time to help others. She had a passion for sending letters, cards and gifts to everyone in her life.
Janice and Marvin returned to the Albany area about 20 years ago, living in Loudonville until Marvin’s passing in 2007. While her health declined these past few years, Janice was fortunate to have caring aides at the Eddy Village Green at Beverwyck.
Jan was predeceased by her two sisters, Shirley Johnson and Harriet Stanman, and by her stepson Jon Cramer. In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren Alyson Finkelstein, Andrew Laven and Chloe Laven, and her great grandchildren Adam, Mia, Dylan and Sloane. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Deborah Cramer (Dan Greenbaum) and Orlie Kraus and their families as well as several nieces and a nephew. Contributions in her memory may be made to Congregation Beth Emeth or the Community Hospice.
