Janice (Weisburgh) Rubenstein

Loudonville - Janice Rubenstein, age 90, died peacefully on April 28th, 2023, under the care of her daughter Ellen. Janice was beloved mother to Ellen Weintraub of North Attleboro, MA and Bruce Rubenstein of Lexington, MA. Jan is survived by her loving brother, Herbert Weisburgh, his wife Marilyn, their children Cecily Weisburgh and Jenny Abbott, Jenny’s husband Nathan, and their daughter, Isabelle. Ellen’s husband Alan Weintraub and Bruce’s wife Sylvia Han also mourn her loss, as do Ellen’s daughter (Jan’s granddaughter) Rachael Udall, Rachael’s husband Chris, and their two children (Jan’s great grandchildren) Connor and Noah. Jan is also survived by her loving grandchildren Eric and Kenneth Rubenstein, Bruce and Sylvia’s sons.

Born in Albany, NY, Jan grew up in Rochester and later moved to Buffalo, where she met her husband Alan, who was her loving companion until his passing in 2019. Jan was a devoted wife and mother and a friend to many, somehow also finding time to be President of Temple Sisterhood and Treasurer and Vice President of Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ). Jan served on the Board of Congregation Beth Emeth, on the Board of Canada/US WRJ, as officer of Abigail #3, and as a long-time assistant to Rabbi Kievel at Temple Israel in Albany. Jan was an amazing Girl Scout leader. We will remember Jan as always having a warm smile for others, a ready laugh, a strength of mind, and a talent for bringing out the best in those who knew her.

Funeral services will be at 2PM on Sunday, April 30th at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, Albany. Burial will follow at Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville.
