Joan Shore

On Sunday, July 18, 2021, Joan Shore, loving mother, grandmother and sister passed away at the age of 83.  

Joan was born on January 15, 1938, in Albany, NY to Joseph and Mildred Miller. She remained in Albany until 1999.  She worked for New York State as a self-taught computer programmer for over 35 years.  Joan raised both her children, Joe and Deb on her own.  Joan proved to be a strong woman serving as a mother and father to them both.  She always put their needs and wants before hers.  After Joan retired, she moved to South Florida.  Joe lives in upstate New York with his son, Joshua.  Deb lives in South Florida.  Joan is also survived by her loving younger sister, Wendy Miller Richman and husband Jerry Richman and their daughter, Jennifer Richman Fleckner and her children Ben and Maddie.  Joan is also survived by her cousin Jon Goldman and his wife Anne.  She had many friends both lifelong and newer ones.  Joan had a passion for golf and was a strong local player.  She passed this passion on to both of her children.  Later in life, Joan became an avid bridge player and earned the level of Life Gold Master.  She had a real zest for life even as she struggled later in life.
