Joel Phillips

 Joel Marc Phillips, 76, of Albany, NY, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center

Joel was born on March 28, 1945 to Harold and Eleanor Phillips in Albany, NY. Joel graduated from Sage College with a B.A. in 1975, and was a lifelong learner with a particular love of Jewish History. Joel was a life member of the Knights of Pythias and Congregation Beth Abraham Jacob, where he volunteered and held various positions. He was well-known at Daughters of Sarah, whether it was helping out in the gift shop, with bingo, or assisting the chaplain in his many years of volunteering. Joel was passionate about helping others, and received his Certificate of Bereavement from Maria College to help provide comfort to those in need. Joel was dedicated to his job at the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle, where he worked for nearly 40 years. 

Joel is survived by his brother, Abbott Phillips (Judy), nephews Scott Phillips (Debra), and Jon Phillips (Amy), and niece, Michelle Davidoff, along with his many loving great-nephews and great-nieces. 

A private graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the Congregation Beth Abraham Jacob Cemetery in Guilderland, New York
