Joette Braunstein Krupa, 74, of Niskayuna, NY, died Tuesday, May 24, 2022 in Schenectady, NY. Born in Schenectady, Joette was a 1969 graduate of Russell Sage College, and obtained her Master’s Degree at SUNY Albany in 1971.
Joette had a gift for working with children and taught nursery school at the Schenectady Jewish Community Center, Hebrew school at Congregation Agudat Achim in Schenectady, second grade at the Hebrew Academy of the Capital District, and kindergarten at Brown School in Schenectady. Joette, enjoying the college search process for her daughter Naomi, opened her own business as a college placement consultant in 1992, which she remained at until retirement in 2012.
Joette was a member of Congregation Agudat Achim where she spent time as a school board member. She was a member and former president of the Schenectady Chapter of Hadassah following in her mother’s footsteps. Joette was a proud friend of Union College in Schenectady, NY where many family members attended over the decades. She loved cats and had them her whole life and spent time volunteering with a cat rescue organization. She was a lifelong Yankee fan and loved the University of Louisville Men’s Basketball Program. She had a passionate interest in politics, particularly at the National Level.
Survivors include her husband, Harold L. Krupa of Schenectady, NY, her daughter, Naomi K. Meyer ofNew York City; a brother, Mordecai Braunstein of New York City; (his wife Shiela), and her nephew, Aaron Braunstein of Atlanta, GA. (his wife Stephanie) and their 2 children.
Services at Congregation Agudat Achim 2117 Union Street Schenectady on Friday May 27, 2022 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the Agudat Achim Cemetery on Schermerhorn Street in Rotterdam Those wishing to remember Joette in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Hadassah
