Joseph Greenhouse

Joseph Greenhouse, 97 of Albany passed away on March 7, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Bialystok, Poland on April 30, 1923 and wsaa the son of the late Harry and Fannie Greenhouse.  A lifetime military man, Joe served in the U.S. Army during both the Pacific and European theaters of World War II and was among the first groups of allied troops to occupy Japan post- surrender.  He retired from DMNA where he was employed as a Budget Officer for the Federal Government and then from the state, and also retired from the Army National Guard as a CW4.  After the war, Joe met the love of his life, Ethel, who survives him and to whom he would have been married to for 74 loving years on March 8, 2021.  Joe was the beloved father of three children, Mark Greenhouse of Slingerlands, Carol ( the late Kenneth) Coons of Slingerlands, and Matt Greenhouse of Watervliet.  Cherished grandfather of Tara (  Nick)  Hulett and Harry ( Jennifer) Greenhouse, and loved Great Grandpa ( Papa Joe)  of Alexis, Savannah, and Ryder Hulett.  Joe loved his family with everything he had and will be remembered for his wisdom, generosity and sense of humor.  Joe fought valiantly against COVID- 19. 

A private service with full military honors will be held at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, New York.
