Schenectady - Lawrence J Kaufmann, son of Julius and Beatrice Kaufmann, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and patriot, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the age of 94. 

Larry was a devoted husband to his wife, Janet, father to his daughter, Debbie Lurie (Brian R) and his late son Mark Naigles (Letty). His wisdom, warmth, and humor will live on in the hearts of his grandchildren—Sam (Vicki), Gregory, Beverly, Saul (Bekah), and Avi (Linor) — each of whom brought him much joy. Larry took pride in being known as, “Great,” by great-grandchildren Sophia and Ava.

Larry proudly served his country in the Korean War, a highly decorated combat veteran, a chapter of his life that reflected his deep sense of duty and resilience. He then had a long and successful career as a local business owner.

Larry could often be found on the links or the courts, playing golf or tennis, well into his later years, enjoying his love of sports with friends and family.

Larry’s legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed. He will be remembered for his unwavering integrity and the quiet strength with which he carried himself throughout his life.

Funeral services for Larry will be held on Monday June 9th at 10:00 am at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. in Colonie. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Saddle Brook, NJ.
