Lee Greenberg Obituary

Lee Robert Greenberg, 71 of Slingerlands, New York died on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at his beloved home that he raised his children in.  Lee was born in Albany and was a lifelong Capital District resident. He was a graduate of Albany High School class of 1969. He received his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and his MBA from Syracuse University.  He proudly worked for the U.S. Department of Defense for many years, finishing his tenure as Deputy Director, Finance and Information Technology of Benét Laboratories in Watervliet.

Lee was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany. Lee was the son of the late Victor and Molly Larner Greenberg.  He is survived by his wife, Marcia Speigel Greenberg, a daughter, Alyssa Rubin and her husband Aaron of Tustin, California; a sister, Estelle Chase (Marc) of Stamford, Connecticut and two grandchildren, Molly and Owen Rubin.

Lee was predeceased by his son, Adam Jeffrey Greenberg and his brother Allen K. Greenberg.

Lee’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Dr. David Shaffer and Dr. Bora Gumustop; as well as Community Hospice and Lee’s caregivers, coordinated by Daniela Filmer, for the excellent care, compassion and support they provided.

Services at Congregation Beth Emeth 100 Academy Road in Albany on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 12 noon. Interment will follow in the Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville, NY.  

The period of mourning will be observed at the Greenberg residence in Slingerlands, NY on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 with minyan service to take place at 6:30pm. Those wishing to remember Lee in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society.
