Leonard David Daffner, 94, passed away peacefully in his home on July 30, 2021.
Born in Schenectady, NY on June 1, 1927 to the late Lillian (“Dutchess”) and Reuben Daffner, he graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1946 and from Siena College with a degree in Economics in 1951. He then returned to continue to work and assist his mother running Mount Pleasant Bakery and marry the love of his life, the late Arlene Johnson Daffner in 1953.
He was a 3rd Degree Freemason of the Scottish Rite, NMJ, a dedicated member of Beth Israel Synagogue for over 65 years, serving as past President and numerous other roles over the years, including dedicating over 40 years leading the bingo fundraising for the schul. Leonard was a family man and spent his life generously caring for his mother, mother-in-law, wife and children. He was a generous, giving man.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Arlene and oldest daughter, Karen.
He is survived by his brother, Gerald (Mal) Daffner, sister, Beverly Daffner, his daughters, Robin (William) Daffner-Dominelli and Marci (Jasmelina Pugliese) Daffner, Grandchildren, Joshua (Kayla Duquette) Smith and Jessica Smith and great grandchildren, Nathanyl and Nickolas and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
Services at the Beth Israel Cemetery on Abbottsford Road in Rotterdam (off Carman Road) on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 1 pm
