Lisa Elaine Rubin passed away on Monday, July 5th, 2021, in Long Beach, California, at the age of 55.
Lisa was an accomplished professor at California State University-Fullerton’s School of Business and Management. She graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and received her Master’s in Industrial Engineering and Master’s in Business Administration Degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Lisa also loved to travel, taking every opportunity to explore the world. Whether with her family or friends, she reveled in seeing new places and having new experiences, including riding an elephant in Thailand, scaling the Parthenon in Greece, and exploring the sequoia trees in Northern California.
Lisa’s greatest pride and joy was her family. Lisa is the daughter of Donald and the late Barbara Kaye Rubin. She is survived by her husband James, daughter Eliana (Ellie), son Tobiah (Toby), sister Tracy (Ethan), niece Mira, nephew Eli and stepmother Sandy. Lisa could often be found cheering on her children at football games and wrestling matches, sewing ballet costumes, volunteering as an elementary school STEM instructor and planning elaborate family trips.
Lisa’s warm spirit, beautiful smile, love for life, can-do attitude and ability to create community continued even after her diagnoses of early onset Parkinson’s. She continued to live largely as wife, mother, daughter and teacher. Lisa always found new ways to enjoy life, including riding her bike along the beach, relishing the fresh air and sense of freedom that it provided.
A memorial service will be held Monday July 12th at 12 pm at Temple Beth Shalom of Clifton Park, followed by interment at Memory Gardens, Colonie, NY and Shiva at Donald’s home in Clifton Park, NY. A ceremony to honor Lisa will also be held in Long Beach, California with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation at michaeljfox.org.
