Louis Nelson, longtime Foxboro, MA resident and Troy, NY native, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, shortly before his 83rd birthday. He was the son of David and Ethel Nelson of Troy, NY. He attended Albany Business College, New Hampshire College, and served in the Army (1962–1965). His career spanned nearly 30 years working for Pepsico, Merrill Lynch, and Fidelity before retiring from Bank of Boston. His proudest accomplishment was his time spent, after he retired, as a reserve police officer for the town of Foxboro. He was an avid golfer, New England Patriots season ticket holder and, much to the annoyance of his children, a New York Yankees fan.
Louis was preceded in death by his two sisters, Doris and Arlene Nelson, of Troy, NY, who helped raise him. He is survived by his children Dawn and David, daughter-in-law Nicole and three grandchildren, Olivia, James and Stella. He predeceased his wife of over fifty years, Carol Nelson, who passed away several hours after him.
Louis Nelson was laid to rest in Troy, NY on January 30th. The family will honor both parents at Roberts & Sons Funeral Home in Foxboro, MA on Thursday, February 12th from 4PM – 7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Parkinson's Foundation or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
